Dental Implants: Single Tooth Replacement

There are many reasons why you may lose a tooth. You may have knocked out a tooth playing sport, you could have experienced significant decay which required extraction, or you could have contracted a disease which resulted in your tooth falling out. A dental implant is the ideal solution to fill in a gap left by a missing tooth.

Missing a Tooth?

Learn how a single dental implant can provide a permanent and matching tooth replacement.

What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is comprised of two main components: the implant itself and the dental implant crown. The dental implant is a small titanium piece which is inserted into he place where you tooth once remained. This is done so that the titanium can integrate with the bone and create a permanent bond. The process is called osseointegration and happens over a couple of months after the insertion.

As your dental implant heals we recommend that you stick to eating soft foods. You will also be fitted with a temporary crown while your permanent crown is made in accordance with your natural smile. A 3D scan of your mouth will be taken in order to create a dental implant crown that is the right shape. This will also be colour-matched so that it blends with your natural smile.

Replace a Missing Tooth in 3 Easy Steps:

STEP #1

Digital Smile Design & CT Scan

The Dental Implant process begins with the digital creation of your new smile so you can see what your future smile will look like beforehand. CT scans will then be ordered to evaluate the bone around the implant sites.

STEP #2

Placement of Implants & Temporary Teeth

A custom-made, titanium implant will then be prepared and inserted into the place where your tooth once was. While your dental implant heals, you’ll be fitted with a temporary crown and your permanent one will be made.

STEP #3

Permanent Teeth Placed. Your New Smile is Ready!

Once your dental implant heals you will be fitted with a permanent dental crown that is the right shape and colour-matched to blend with your natural smile. You are then ready to share your new smile with the world!

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental Implants

Who is a suitable dental candidates for implants?

Patients should have healthy gums and enough bone volume to support the implant. They also must be committed to good oral hygiene and regular dental visits. Heavy smokers, people suffering from uncontrolled chronic disorders (such as diabetes or heart disease), or patients who have had radiation therapy to the head/neck area need to be evaluated on an individual basis.

Currently there is no better treatment available for replacing a missing tooth. A dental implant treatment is an investment in the future of your oral health as the implants are permanent and create a strong and sturdy prosthetic tooth root.

What are the benefits of dental implants?

Dental implants have a number of benefits. If you have lost a tooth due to disease, decay or an accident a dental implant is a great way for you to reclaim your confidence and aesthetic appearance. If you have lost a number of your teeth or an entire arch dental implants can give you a static solution which many patients prefer over removable dentures. This is because having a permanent smile is much easier to clean and you can feel like you still have your natural set of teeth.

How much do dental implants cost?

The exact amount will be determined and explained to you ahead of any treatment. Contact our staff for more information. Your health fund should cover some of these costs and we also offer flexible payment plans so that you can pay your treatment off over a number of weeks or months.
