Anxious About Visiting The Dentist?

Dr. Rammo explains on this video about strategies and ways to overcome your dental anxiety.

Most of our patients are good candidates for sleep dentistry. The reason for this is because we carefully administer and monitor sedation at all times while it is in use.

We will review your health and medical history to determine if sedation is right for your needs. During your consultation appointment, we will go over the different options that we have available in our office.

Types of Sedation We Offer*

Learn more about the two types of sedation we offer to help reduce dental anxiety and control pain.

Nitrous Oxide:

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective technique for reducing fear and anxiety in dental patients. It is inhaled via a small mask and is often referred to as “laughing gas”. You will remain awake and are able to interact with the dentist. Nitrous oxide has the added benefit of reducing the gag reflex in patients who have sensitive palates. Before having nitrous oxide, we recommend not eating anything for at least two hours prior to your appointment.

Light Oral Sedation:

For those who are more anxious, we also offer light oral sedation which has a stronger effect than nitrous oxide. With our light oral sedation you will feel sleepy however will still have the ability to reply to the dentist. As the side effect of light oral sedation can leave you drowsy after, we require you to have someone available to pick you up.

* minor side effects of oral sedation may include nausea and vomiting.

With dental sedation, you can get over the fear of visiting the dentist and keep your teeth and gums in terrific shape.
